I purchased this converter to go with my second Lamy Safari. I found that this newer version is great. The material they used for the clear plastic seems to be different than the converter I purchased around a year ago. I think this since I find that when using the same ink between them the new converter does NOT allow the ink to stick to its sides. This means that when using the viewing window on the side of my Lamy the ink sticks together and I can actually see the ink level, as opposed to just seeing the ink smeared on the sides as I do with my old converter. Way to go Lamy on the small yet appreciated improvement! Read more »

Pilot G2 Retractable Gel Ink Roller Ball Pen, Extra Fine Point, Clear Barrel, Black Ink, 12-Count (31002)
Great grip, smooth flowing ink. It all cuts down on carpal tunnel because I don’t have to press as hard. Extra fine point means I can write very small, but not smear or run. Read more »
Sharpie Pen Fine Point Pen, 12 Black Pens (1742663)
These are wonderful pens. I have atrocious handwriting characterized by uneven strokes and pressure — these help it be more legible due to the sheer smoothness and darkness of the ink, even with uneven amounts of pressure applied. They don’t bleed through standard computer paper, although you won’t be able to use both sides of college ruled notebook paper as the ink is dark enough to clearly show through on the other side of the paper. Pilot Precise V5 Stick Rolling Ball Pen, Micro Point, 0.5 mm, Black Barrel/Ink (35334), 12-Count
The Pilot Precise V5 has been my pen of choice since I was in grade school. I had a short fling with mechanical pencils before returning to my first love – these pens – and will probably use them for the rest of my life. Not to make it sound dramatic, but they’re IT. Read more »

Fisher Space Pen, Bullet Space Pen, Matte Black, Gift Boxed (400B)
This is the fourth of these pens I’ve owned over the years. One was chewed up by my dog about 7 yrs ago and I ordered another which I lost, alas. When the chewed up one finally began to get so that the cap was loose and I was afraid it would get lost if I kept carrying it everywhere I bought another which was borrowed by a customs agent in Laredo and which I forgot to get back (borders make me concentrate on other things than borrowed pens) so I had to get another. Never carry other pens for at least 10 years and never have the desire for others. I write notes lying in my hammock with pen upside down or whatever. Useful, elegant in an understated way and just fine workmanship. The only thing is that the refills blob if you drop the pen on its point . . . but that happens with any pen I’ve ever used. I use the fine-point black refills rather than the medium that comes with the pen. Read more »
Lamy Safari Converter Z24
The converter works very well, though I still use cartridges for the pens that travel in my handbag. I keep the converter in the LAMY that stays at home. If the converter holds up for ,say, 6 to 12 months, with no leaks, then I try it on-the-go – which is the real goal of the Safari pen. (I have two because the Safari is one of my favorite pens- lightweight, good tactile experience of pen to paper, and smooth ink flow.) Read more »

Pilot Precise V5 Stick Rolling Ball Pen, Micro Point, 7 Assorted Barrel/Ink Colors, 7 per Pack (26015)
I’ve been using these Pilot V5 pens for probably about 15 years, and just love them. I use them mostly when grading my students’ papers since they write in a nice fine, precise line — and don’t leave marks on my hands when my hand is resting on the paper! They also last a long time, and are good down to the very end of the ink. They never blot and hardly ever smear, and they make it easy to write in tight spaces on a page. The fun colors they come in are also great. Since I don’t like to use red pens when grading essays, I love that I can use fun colors like purple, pink, and green, and my students always comment on how much they like it that I don’t use red. I hope that Pilot never discontinues these! Read more »
