Pilot Precise V5 Stick Rolling Ball Pen, Micro Point, 0.5 mm, Black Barrel/Ink (35334), 12-Count

The Pilot Precise V5 has been my pen of choice since I was in grade school. I had a short fling with mechanical pencils before returning to my first love – these pens – and will probably use them for the rest of my life. Not to make it sound dramatic, but they’re IT.

Let me tell you how wonderful these pens are: whenever I’m writing with another pen, I find myself longing for the Pilot V5. After writing with these for 7 years, there’s just nothing else that compares. For me, the Pilot is the most conducive pen in getting the thoughts in my head onto paper. It’s smooth and fluid, writes with the epitome of ease and precision, and has a nice minimalist look. I’v graduated to buying these in boxes rather than just single pens because I hate being without them and having to use "other" pens. Once you try the V5, you’ll know what I mean.

The Pilot Precise V5 pens are the only ones I trust for signing all my business documents, especially the Tax Returns I prepare. I love the fact that while they have a very fine point, they are smooth and the ink color is sharp. I also use the color ones for my Accounting work.

No one can fit everything on teensy little lines. This pen is a unique extra fine tip that is so fine that you can fill out very tiny spaces CLEARLY. There are many fine point pens out on the market and pilot has some of the very best on the planet and this extra fine tip is worth the money and has earned the my Rave Review. We love these because they stay firm, the tips do not bend, and the ink lasts a long time because the point is so fine. If you are a pen-freak this is an everyday pen you will not lose your temper over if it goes “missing” and yet you can still accomplish great writing with an extraordinary-ordinary everyday pen.

I use this pen exclusively for writing technical documents or to take notes in my graduate coursework. I combine it with large graphical pad to create excellent, detailed illustrations. I would use no other pen. I had one incident on a flight when my pen exploded. This was unfortunate. The ink made quite a mess, but I’d attribute the explosion to a dramatic change in pressure at some point during the flight. As an aerospace engineer, I know that cabin pressure is largely preserved to maintain a certain temperature, but this is my leading cause after pondering about the mishap. I have not had a pen explode any other time. I’d also had a pen leak all over my bed. Don’t leave uncapped pens lying around your bed. I was a fool and I got what I deserved. Take good care of these pens and they’ll take care of you. They are the finest writing instrument for their cost.

okay, it’s a pretty darn good pen. It’s got a very fine point and doesn’t bleed.

The Pilot Precise V5 pens are my favorite roller ball pens. I’ve been using them for years, although there was a time when I wasn’t doing much writing and hadn’t bought any for a while. Recently I decided to try these again after seeing some in a store, and got them in a variety of colors. The blue and black are my favorites. Purple is a close second. They all write with a nice smooth line, no skipping, and in nice deep/dark shades of ink, although I did notice one of the pens felt a little scratchy on the paper. I don’t remember that ever happening years ago. Either the pens are not as smooth as they used to be, or it was somewhat of a dud. Every once in a while there is a dud that won’t write well at all. I experienced this in the assorted pack I’ve been using and noticed other reviews have mentioned this. I guess it happens but not often. Years ago, I used to buy the Bic roller pens in 2 point sizes, and in 3 colors. The black was an almost grey-black ink. This Pilot Precise is very black, which is nice.
